A DIY Outdoor Chaise is the perfect DIY project for summertime. It provides a comfortable place to read, relax or just enjoy some time outside on warm days. This DIY outdoor chaise will help you create your own custom outdoor seating solution that fits any backyard décor style.

This multifunctional outdoor chaise lounge chair, made from only a few 2x4s and some elbow grease, is a stunning decor item on any porch or patio.

MATERIALS & TOOLS

  • Self-tapping screws
  • Wood glue
  • Pocket screws
  • Sandpaper

Cut the below lengths from 2×4’s:

  • 2 – 25 1/2″
  • 2 – 25″
  • 2 – 12 1/2″
  • 2 – 23 1/2″
  • 1 – 22″
  • 1 – 18″

Cut the below lengths from 1×4’s (furring strips):

  • 4 – 25″

STEP 1

Join the pair of 12 1/2′′ legs with the 18″ section using pocket holes, with 2 1/2′′ self-tapping screws, and wood glue.

STEP 2

Attach the back legs in the next step. Join the 22″ piece to the two 25 1/2″ pieces at 12 1/2″ from the bottom with glue and 2 1/2″ pocket screws. Attach a 25″ long section to the top of the 25 1/2″ units.

STEP 3

Attach the two 23 1/2′′ wooden pieces between the front and back legs with glue and 2 1/2′′ pocket screws.

STEP 4

Attach the 1 x 4’s to the top of the seat. Five 1 x 4’s are shown in the photo, but four will do just fine. I used 2″ brad nails and wood glue to assemble it. Add a 25″ board with 2 1/2″ screws to provide additional back support if required. Once the glue dries, sand lightly and seal with a water seal.
