It is a significant addition to your backyard for aesthetics as well as a variety of other uses. From the previous article, we discussed building a pergola from the ground up. In this topic we anavar kokemuksia will be adding a retractable shade to shield our audiences underneath from the hot sun as we  enjoy the outdoors and an unobstructed view of the garden.

What we’ll need:

  • Sunshade fabric or weather resistant canvas
  • 1/2″ inch diameter aluminum pipes
  • Fixed eye and snap hook fasteners
  • Eye bolts
  • Turnbuckle eye
  • 1/8″ inch thick steel cable
  • Pulleys
  • Polyester rope

TAILORING THE CANOPY

  • Cut the fabric based on the length of your pergola. Measurements indicated here is for a 10×10 feet pergola. Follow the diagram in sewing the canopy.
  • Cut the aluminum pipes to the width of the panels and insert it through the loops of the canopy. These pipes hold the shape of the canopy as it opens and closes.
  • Attach snap hook fasteners through the holes over the aluminum pipes to serve as guide rails as it slides against the steel cables.

GUIDE RAIL SETUP

  • Align the positions of the eye bolts with the width of the snap hooks and equally spaced across the length of the horizontal beams.
  • Spread the steel cables through the eye bolts and the snap hooks. The canopy should align with each other at the same height.

SETTING UP THE PULLING CORD

  • Start by positioning the pulleys centered with each of the panels. One pulley for one end and two on the opposite end.
  • The cord must be laid out as one continuous loop. Position the cord across each of the panels, through the pulleys and down to the control cord.
  • Make a knot on the pilot cords through the snap-on hooks on the first pipes. These pipes should flow seamlessly forwards and backwards followed by the rest of the other pipes when the control cord is pulled.
